Jakob Ladányi Jancsó, born in Hamburg in 1989, is a film director based in Budapest and Berlin. He holds a BSc in psychology from Freie Universität Berlin. Initially pursuing his master’s degree in film directing at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, he completed it at the Film Academy Vienna through the FreeSZFE emergency exit program.
His short film, The Love of Things One Can Lose (2022), won Best Short Film at the Friss Hús International Short Film Festival. In 2023, he attended the Talents Sarajevo Pack & Pitch program and is also an alumnus of the Filmacademy Ludwigsburg International Class.
Jakob’s directorial style blends psychological insight with innovative storytelling, aiming to provoke thought, evoke emotion, and inspire societal change.
